Two Arrests Following Heathrow Irritant Spray Incident

Placeholder Heathrow Airport scene
The assault resulted in the partial shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 parking area.

Two more people are now in custody in connection with a robbery at London's Heathrow Airport in which over twenty individuals sustained injuries by a substance believed to be pepper spray, as stated by police.

A 24-year-old man, was arrested in the Lambeth area on suspicion of robbery and assault and a woman, 23 was arrested for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. They both remain in custody, the force said.

The arrests come after a probe into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the incident, two women had stolen from them their luggage upon exiting a car park lift.

A three-year-old girl was among the those hurt during the incident. Five people went to hospital for medical care and were later released.

Police arrested a man in his thirties on suspicion of theft and assault near the scene. He was subsequently released pending further inquiries as the investigation proceeds.

Authorities were alerted at about 08:10 GMT after reports came in regarding several people hurt by a noxious substance thought to be pepper spray.

The assault - which authorities stated was isolated and not considered terrorism - caused train delays and the temporary shutdown of the main airport tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking facility for a short time.
